Alya’s life, who was living a quiet existence in Canada with her family, is shaken to its core by the unexpected death of her husband, Boran. Respecting his last wish, Alya sets off for Mardin to bury him in his native land. A doctor by profession, Alya is a woman shaped by Western values: rational, strong, persevering, and deeply attached to her freedom. She knew almost nothing about her husband’s family, as Boran had severed all ties with his relatives long ago.
Cihan Albora (Ozan Akbaba), Alya’s brother-in-law, is the head of the Albora family, one of the most influential families in the Mardin region, owning vast properties on the border. A man who does not let his emotions cloud his judgment, Cihan is self-controlled, calculating, and extremely lucid, a true strategist and fighter by nature. He is convinced that his brother was killed by the family’s enemies, the Albora being caught in an old and bloody conflict with another powerful family in the area.
While fighting his rivals, Cihan must also maintain fragile relationships with his uncle and cousins. To protect his family, he is willing to do anything.
Once she arrives at the Albora family estate, Alya quickly realizes that there is no turning back. Her mother-in-law, Sadakat Albora, suspects her of betraying Boran and revealing his location to his enemies. In this context, Alya discovers the real reason why her husband left Turkey and settled in Canada, completely severing ties with his family.
Alya plans to stay in Mardin only for the duration of the funeral, then return to her life in Canada. But Boran’s family has other plans: they want their grandson to stay in Mardin and be raised in the Albora household, according to their traditions. Refusing to be intimidated, Alya makes it clear that she is not afraid of them and plans to run away, with the help of Izzet, the lawyer and friend who accompanied her from Canada.
Alongside the main storyline, two other love stories unfold.
Kaya Albora, Cihan’s younger brother, is the most impulsive and impetuous member of the family. Capable of moving mountains for those he loves, he can become a real nightmare for those he hates. Kaya is in love with Zerrin, but their relationship is doomed to failure because of the enmity between their families.
At the same time, Şahin, Zerrin’s brother, grew up alongside his cousins, Cihan and Kaya, and is loyal to the Albora family. He is in love with their sister, Nare. The internal conflict between his loyalty to his own family and his feelings constantly torments him.
